========================================================

Learn to maintain and improve your wellbeing by using something you do all the time (breathing)!

Together with guided relaxation and some easy movements, breathing has a fundamental role in Qigong.

But what is Qigong?

Qigong (Chi Kung) is one of the so-called “Internal Arts” and also one of the four major branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and serves to improve the circulation and balance of Qi (see definition below) in the body and therefore to improve and maintain health.

The name Qigong itself is composed of two characters in Chinese, the first being “Qi” (pronounced “chee”) and the second being “Gong” (pronounced “gung”) which means “to work” or “to develop”. Hence, Qigong is the art of developing Qi.

And what is Qi?

The word “Qi” can be translated in various ways, the most common of which appear to be “air” (or “gas”) and “vital energy”. According to TCM, Qi and blood circulate in a similar fashion and Qigong therefore serves to improve the circulation of Qi and blood.

How is it done?

There are innumerable styles and schools of Qigong, but they all have in common the main theme of enhancing the free, unobstructed flow of Qi (“vital energy”, “breath”, “the basic component of everything”) and blood in the body. This is accomplished through relaxation of the mind, the loosening of physical tensions throughout the body, concentration on (abdominal) breathing and specific body movements.

Halotherapy

Take advantage of this occasion offered by Namur – il Posto del Respiro to combine the practice of Qigong with the healthy effects of Halotherapy in the salt room. Given the limited amount of space in the salt room, there will be two turns on Sunday morning, January 31st; the first from 9:45 to 10:45 and the second from 11:00 to 12:00. It is important to reserve this free taste of Halotherapy combined with Qigong by contacting Namur at 02/87073490 or by e-mail at: respira@namur.it.

DON’T FORGET TO BRING AN EXTRA PAIR OF SOCKS FOR THE SALT ROOM!
